Gender-based violence of any kind, expressed through acts of rape, sexual violence, human trafficking, domestic violence, or other acts, represents a complex and urgent problem Іn Ukraine, abuse is often hidden from the public eye. There are many reasons why victims do not seek assistance from law enforcement authorities, including stigmatization, the fear of reprisal, and the lack of social services.
Assistance in recovery for victims is a pathway to re-establish social connections, personal independence, and self-trust. This refers to an array of activities that take place through the initiative and support of the police. Victims have access to legal advice and psychological counseling, personal safety courses, and art therapy sessions. They also learn about their rights and gain skills to protect themselves. With expert assistance from police, victims are able to gain a sense of protection and receive necessary information directly from law enforcement members.
