Community Policing Philosophy

Community Policing is the process by which police and other community members partner to improve community wellbeing, safety and security through joint problem identification, analysis, response and evaluation. Considering the Ukrainian experience in this area, Community Policing has been defined as a philosophy and organizational strategy of proactive partnership-based cooperation between the police and the community to more effectively identify, prevent, and solve problems of crime and community safety in order to improve the quality of life for everyone.

Community policing presupposes that citizens are aware of their rights and responsibilities, and informed about the rights and responsibilities of the police. This section contains information for citizens about the work of the police, the functions of various police divisions, contact details, and the models of effective cooperation with law enforcement agencies. Here you will find successful examples of Community Policing information campaigns conducted across Ukraine and joint initiatives between the community members and police.
