Summer Police Academy. Kremenchuk

The Summer Police Academy initiative was implemented by the Police Training Assistance Project (PTAP) together with the Patrol Police of the city of Kremenchuk with the support of the Community Policing Innovation Fund (CPIF) of the Police Training Assistance Project (PTAP), implemented in Ukraine by Agriteam Canada Consulting Ltd with the financial support of the Government of Canada.

The initiative was implemented in various locations across the city of Kremenchuk from June to September 2018. Outreach activities were conducted with adolescents in suburban villages (schools and children's health camps).

The purpose of the initiative was to build trust in the police and understanding in the community through training and the involvement of police officers in the organization of meaningful free time activities for young people.

Objectives:

  • Introduce principles and requirements of the law and order and ways to enforce the law through active involvement
  • Provide career guidance to the youth
  • Build trust and cooperation between the police and the community.

In total, 22 events and training sessions were conducted on the interaction between the police and the community, public safety, human rights. More than 500 participants took part in the activities of the project. About 30 participants attended more than one project event, and five participants took part in all five activities. Three tour visits were organized for the project participants: to the Center for the Provision of Free Secondary Legal Aid; to the Kremenchuk City Police Department, and to the Patrol Police Academy.
