# BeVisible initiative: A multilayered program to improve the safety of pedestrians using reflective elements in the city of Kropyvnytskyi was implemented by the Agency for Sustainable Development “Skyscraper” together with the Patrol Police of the city with the support of the Community Policing Innovation Fund (CPIF) of the Police Training Assistance Project (PTAP), implemented in Ukraine by Agriteam Canada Consulting Ltd with the financial support of the Government of Canada.

The main objective of this project is to reduce the number of road traffic accidents (RTAs) involving vulnerable categories of pedestrians (children, disabled persons, especially wheelchair users, parents with strollers etc.) through delivery of practical lessons on pedestrian safety at night time and dissemination of reflective elements, as well as through enhanced media awareness campaigns among the city dwellers.

Goals of the Project:

  • develop a comprehensive information awareness campaign to enhance pedestrian safety using reflective elements in the city of Kropyvnytskyi;
  • build consistent cooperation with the City Council, Patrol Police Office and teaching staff members from all secondary educational institutions in Kropyvnytskyi, who can disseminate the tools acquired within the project in their teams and, consequently, among students of their institutions, to provide multiplier effect and sustainability of the project;
  • develop and facilitate approval of the city’s information awareness program for enhancing pedestrian safety using reflective elements in the city of Kropyvnytskyi;
  • enhance pedestrian safety culture;
  • disseminate successful European practices of enhancing pedestrian safety using reflective elements.
