Crisis Center for Mental Health
The Crisis Center for Mental Health, in cooperation with local organizations and government institutions, implemented over 30 initiatives aimed at developing psychological competencies and raising the level of awareness of police officers; burnout prevention groups for volunteers working for the non-profits in the city of Sumy; psychosocial, informational, psychological, integration, and socio-economic support for IDPs; promoting volunteering among young people in Sumy region; employees of the organization are regular guest speakers on crisis psychology for students of local colleges and universities.
The organization has psychologists/psychotherapists, with three EMDR therapists for adults and children, crisis psychologists, and psychotherapists of various therapeutic directions. Experts have the opportunity to travel to the rural areas as mobile brigades with the support of partner organizations and foundations.
In 2018-2019, the organization implemented the Community Policing project – through trust and mutual understanding, we build a safe community space (with the support of the Community Policing Innovation Fund (CPIF) of the Police Training Assistance Project (PTAP), implemented in Ukraine by Agriteam Canada Consulting Ltd with the financial support of the Global Affairs Canada).
Areas of activity:
1. Psychosocial (MHPSS):
- support groups for the wives of servicemen
- support groups for the affected population
- creative workshop for children and adults (workshops, theatrical evenings, occupational therapy classes).
2. Psychological:
- one-on-one, couple counselling, adult and children's therapy
- group work with children on the processing of trauma under the Children and War program (8-18 years)
- psychoeducational measures for civil servants, doctors, educators, social workers, volunteers, etc.
3. Specialized:
- pediatric and adult EMDR therapy (group, individual).
